A couple was invited to a masked costume Halloween
party. The wife got a terrible headache and told her husband to go to
the party alone.
He, being a devoted husband, protested, but she argued
and said she was going to take some aspirin and go to bed, and there
was no need for his good time to be spoiled by not going. So he took
his Batman costume and away he went.
The wife, after sleeping soundly for about an hour,
awakened without pain, and, as it was still early, decided to go to
the party.
In as much as her husband did not know what her
costume was, she thought she would have some fun by watching her
husband to see how he acted when she was not with him.
She put on a Goldilocks costume.
So she joined the party and soon spotted her husband
cavorting around on the dance floor, dancing with every nice chick he
cuddle and copping a little feel here and a little kiss there.
His wife went up to him and being a rather seductive
babe herself, he left his new partner high and dry and devoted his
time to her.
She let him go as far as he wished, naturally, since
he was her husband. After some more to drink he finally whispered a
little proposition in her ear and she agreed, so off they went to one
of the cars and had a quickie in the back seat.
Just before unmasking at midnight, she slipped away
and went home and put her costume away and got into
bed, wondering what kind of explanation he would make
up for his outrageous behavior.
She was sitting up reading when he came in, so she
asked what kind of time he had.
"Oh, the same old thing. You know I never have a
good time when you're not there."
Then she asked, "Did you dance much?"
He replied, "I'll tell you, I never even
danced one dance. When I got there, I met Pete, Bill Brown and some
other guys, so we went into the spare room and played poker all
evening."
"You must have looked really silly wearing that
Batman costume playing poker all night!" she said with unashamed
sarcasm.
To which the husband replied, "Actually, I gave
my Batman costume to your Dad. Apparently he had a whale of a time.
He told me he got lucky with a hottie in a Goldilocks outfit"

SOFTWARE CAUSED LONDON EXCHANGE FAILURE
The London Stock Exchange has said a computer software glitch was the reason trading was paralyzed on Monday. Traders could not connect to the LSE’s system for nearly seven hours, wiping out most of the day’s trading. Business resumed on Tuesday and without incident, but the Exchange missed out on what could have been one of its busiest days of the year. According to the British Broadcasting Corporation News it came at a time when the LSE was facing increasing competition from new rival exchanges. A spokeswoman for the LSE said the problem had now been fixed. She denied that the problem had been related to the high volume of trading first thing in the morning. Strong trading had been predicted for London and other European markets on Monday after the United States government stepped in to rescue troubled mortgage firms, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, over the weekend. Since new European Union rules came in last year, the LSE no longer has a monopoly on share trading and new rivals have sprung up. One of their competitors, Chi-X, said the incident highlighted that the system needed a “root and branch change”, with trading prices taken from a variety of sources. Its Chief Executive, Mr. Peter Randall said, “We have newer software and more modern technology and offer real time market data for free.” Punch
Nigerian housemate having a nice time.

It seems that the Nigerian housemate is having a good time in the house. When BBA 3 started Uti was a little bit quite and some how boring. If one was asked to be the judge of who would take the cash home, you would have voted for Mimi, Rico or the SA housemate Thami.
Now things have changed and Uti is becoming more popular. He seem to be getting on well with the other housemates, he is creative, does not talk too much, he respects the other housemates, he apologized to Lucille and above all the Nigerian does not sleep around with any girl.
He seems not to be in a hurry when it comes to the relationships matters. He takes time to study events in the house and then takes the action. Although Biggie is still young, right now if biggie came to an end bet me the cash would go to Nigeria.
Kingibe hands over, says ‘I knew I would vacate SGF office one day’

Former Secretary to the Government of Federation, Ambassador Babagana Kingibe
Speaking while handing over to his successor, Alhaji Yayale Ahmed, in Abuja, Kingibe said the pictures of his predecessors in his former office served as constant reminders that no position was permanent.
He said, “Every morning that I entered into my office, I looked up at the 14 pictures of my illustrious predecessors hanging on the walls.
“ The pictures of (these) men…all serve as daily reminders that one day, God’s appointed time will come for everyone to leave office. The time for me is now.”
The ex-SGF, who also served notice of his intention to return to active politics, said like Ahmed, he had personal loyalty to the nation and to the President.
He said, “I do not have capital to buy a farm or own a farm. I will continue to do what I know best: mobilising people of goodwill behind our national endeavour to make sure that this country fulfils the promise of greatness through President Yar’Adua.”
Turning to the new SGF, he said, “As you know, it was Yar’Adua alone who took the decision to appoint me. This singular consideration was always uppermost in my mind in all my actions and will abide with me always.”
He described Ahmed as a worthier and more meritorious successor.
“I know your experience, capabilities, dedication to duty and tenacity in the pursuit of set goals,” he the former SGF said.
‘These qualities and those of patriotism, love, and personal loyalty to the President which we both share, have more than well prepared you for this office and the onerous responsibilities that go with it,” he added.
Responding, Ahmed described the handover as emotional.
“Never in my life have I come to an assignment as difficult and emotional like this,” he sdaid.
He said as a brother, he would continue to tap into Kingibe’s wisdom.
The new SGF, who until his appointment was the Minister of Defence, promised to serve the Yar’Adua administration to the best of his ability.
Kingibe was removed on Monday by Yar’Adua shortly after his return from Saudi Arabia. punch ng.
GENEVIEVE NNAJI

She is the stuff of which legends are made. A strong woman who, against all odds rose to become a dazzling success that fiction loving individuals get to read about in Jackie Collins or Barbara Taylor- Bradford novels. But her story is for real. Genevieve Nnaji is undoubtedly, Nollywood's most dazzling diamond yet.
Nollywood, the pet name for the Nigerian motion picture industry, has captured global fascination and is touted as being the third largest movie producing country after America's Hollywood and India's Bollywood, respectively. Nollywood has more fans outside, spread across Africa and other parts of the world than in Nigeria itself. It is in this buoyant industry that a home video is hardly produced without Nnaji on the cast list. She has acted major roles in nearly 200 home videos. Her earnings from a home movie is reportedly in six digits. She lives in the posh Ajah district in Lagos. And she moves about in the latest sleek cars. She has become not just a star but, a super star.
Her status received the mega star title when in addition to acting she released a musical album. Titled Hot Stuff, the album was first released in Ghana before its subsequent release in Sierra Leone. Her first musical performance in Sierra Leone took place at Old School Entertainment Complex at Abereen, west of the capital Freetown, on May 6 and at the National Stadium Lagos on May 7. She appeared at the event alongside Mohamed Kallon, Sierra Leonean international striker. Kallon remarked that Genevieve's album is a delightful blend of Afro beat and western lyrics. At the initial launch of the album in Ghana, different groups jostled for hosting the show with some of them offering 12,000 dollars for it.
Her super stardom was consolidated recently. Unilever, the international conglomerate, recently appointed her as the new face of Lux, a toilet soap. Her appearance in the television advertisement confirmed her star status; she was the star any young girl would aspire to be. Apart from the television advertisements, she also featured in the billboards advertisements.
Popularly called 'Genny' by her friends, Nnaji was born in 1979 to an engineer father and a mother who was a teacher. She attended Girls Secondary School Akwakuma, Owerri, Imo State. It was while in secondary school that she exhibited her artistic bent. Contrary to earlier protestations, she refused to forgo her fantasy of becoming a film star.
In order to actualise her dreams and not just fantasise about it, she left for Lagos. Initially, the roles were not forthcoming. But, she started with minor roles in Palace and Broad Street, two television soap operas. This opened the door for roles in Nollywood productions like Most Wanted, Agony, The Only Nigerian Girl, Camouflage, Fire Dancer, Mark of the Beast and so on. From her scintillating performance in these movies, her rating and popularity soared. She has been hailed as Nigerian Halle Berry and Africa's Janet Jackson.
Fans are already gearing up to witness her transition to Hollywood. Her innocent natural looks, petite figure and charisma in addition to her ability to let characters come to her easily brand her as Hollywood stuff! However, Nnaji is lukewarm about that. "Of course, it's not easy climbing up the ladder in Hollywood … Will I be able to cope with their professional standards? Will I be able to cope with the beauty rave and madness of Hollywood? Will I do my nose, do my chin, have breasts implant or enlarge my lips? Hmmm, questions that need answers!," she said. Completely assured of her abilities, she rather thought it is Hollywood that should be priming itself for her. She said, "the GOD I serve does not sleep... if He wills it, I will go to Hollywood and if He lets me get there, it's to make an African statement with my African-ness. The question should be "IS HOLLYWOOD READY FOR GENEVIEVE?"
Her characteristic bluntness on issues makes her unpopular with some people who mistake it for arrogance. But she takes such comments in her stride.
Rather, she takes solace in youngsters looking up to her. Her story gives many aspiring youngsters out there a chance to believe that they can also become what they want to become. It is no surprise she has got a lot of youngsters considering a career in the movies. She personifies everything they want to achieve in the movie business; she is beautiful, she is talented, she is famous and shooting upward every minute like the proverbial northern star. Everyone dreams of shinig like a star. The star today is Genevieve Nnaji.I LIKE THIS CHARMING LADY....DONT YOU?
OIL PRICES RISE ON HURRICANE FEAR
Oil prices rose on Monday on fears that Hurricane Ike would disrupt oil production in the Gulf of Mexico. United States (U.S.) light, sweet crude climbed $1.41 to $107.64, and London Brent crude gained $1.19 to $105.28 in early trading. Prices also rebounded on hopes that the U.S. government's rescue of mortgage firms Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae would prevent a further economic slide. Traders were also awaiting a decision on production from the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). OPEC is expected to hold current production levels at a meeting in Vienna on Tuesday. "I don't believe there is any possibility we will change production levels," said Ecuador's oil minister Galo Chiriboga on Sunday. However, there has been growing speculation that some members such as Venezuela might want to lower output. Saudi Arabia, OPEC's most powerful member, is yet to comment. Oil prices had been falling over the last week. On Friday, the price in New York reached $106.23 a barrel, its lowest level in five months. Some analysts expect prices to continue to rise, with a number of rigs in the Gulf of Mexico under threat from Hurricane Ike. The rigs produce some 25 per cent of U.S. oil output and supply about 15 per cent of its natural gas. On Sunday, Hurricane Ike weakened slightly as it approached Cuba. However, U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency officials predicted it would gain strength as it entered the Gulf of Mexico. Meanwhile, prices also reacted to the news that the U.S. government would bail-out mortgage lenders Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. There had been worries that, were the problems affecting the U.S. mortgage market to worsen significantly, U.S. consumers would face an additional financial burden on top of rising of food and energy costs. This would have caused them to tighten their belts, reducing demand for oil from motorists, transport firms and factories. Guardian, p. 23.

GLOBAL ECONOMY WOES SHAKE MARKETS
Fears about a global economic slowdown, heightened by worsening United States job figures, have continued to undermine stock markets around the world. London’s FTSE 100 index lost 2.3 per cent - taking its weekly decline to seven per cent - its biggest since July 2002. Markets in Paris and Frankfurt fell by 2.5 per cent as economy concerns spread, the British Broadcasting Corporation News reported on Friday. On Wall Street, the Dow Jones index clawed back early losses to edge higher despite figures showing the US economy shed 84,000 jobs last month. But the benchmark US index still had its worst week since May. Earlier, Japan’s main share index fell nearly three per cent while markets in Hong Kong, China, Australia and India all slid two per cent. The US labour market figures - which showed the unemployment rate rising to 6.1 per cent - were a further jolt to investors who have had to swallow a slew of poor economic data in recent days. Economists had been expecting 75,000 jobs to be lost while the government also revised upwards. “This was an ugly number that pretty much confirms that our economy continues to trend downward,” said the Chief Investment Officer, Harris Private Bank, Mr. Jack Ablin. “This just knocks the legs out of any hope of seeing much economic improvement right now,” he added. The FTSE 100 closed down 2.3 per cent at 5,240.70 points. The last time it lost so much value in a week was more than six years ago in the wake of financial scandals such as Enron and WorldCom. Markets in Paris and Frankfurt continued their recent downward trend, both the Cac-40 index and the Dax-30 dropping about 2.5 per cent. The Dow Jones index, which lost three per cent on Thursday, rose 32.73 points, or 0.3 per cent to 11,220.96, but still ended down 2.8 per cent on the week. “Given the fact we were down so much on Thursday we are seeing a bit of a reflex rally with investors wanting to take advantages of some of the bargains,” said Bucky Hellwig, senior vice president at Morgan Asset Management. The Nasdaq index slipped 3.16 points, or 0.1 per cent to 2,255.88, ending the week 4.7 per cent lower. Earlier Japan’s benchmark Nikkei index fell 361.54 points to 12,196.12 amid a widespread sell-off of shares in Asia. The Hang Seng index fell more than three per cent in Hong Kong while markets also fell sharply in China, Australia and India. “Amid the uncertainty, few investors are willing to buy,” said Masayuki, Otani, chief market analyst at Securities Japan. “Several bad things happened at once,” he added, explaining the fall. THE BIRDIES!
On July 22nd, I was enroute to Washington, DC for a business trip. It was all so very ordinary until we landed in Denver for a plane change. As I collected my belongings from the overhead bin, an announcement was made for Mr. Lloyd Glenn to see the United Customer Service Representative immediately.
I thought nothing of it until I reached the door to leave the plane, and I heard a gentleman asking every male if he were Mr. Glenn. At this point, I knew something was wrong and my heart sank.
When I got off the plane, a solemn-faced young man came toward me and said, 'Mr. Glenn, there is an emergency at your home. I do not know what the emergency is, or who is involved, but I will take you to the phone so you can call the hospital.'
My heart was now pounding, but the will to be calm took over. Woodenly, I followed this stranger to the distant telephone where I called the number he gave me for the Mission Hospital. My call was put through to the trauma center where I learned that my three-year-old son had been trapped underneath the automatic garage door for several minutes, and that when my wife found him he was dead.
CPR had been performed by a neighbor, who is a doctor, and the paramedics had continued the treatment as Brian was transported to the hospital.
By the time of my call, Brian was revived and they believed he would live, but they did not know how much damage had been done to his brain, nor to his heart. They explained that the door had completely closed on his little sternum right over his heart. He had been severely crushed. After speaking with the medical staff, my wife sounded worried but not hysterical, and I took comfort in her calmness.
The return flight seemed to last forever, but finally I arrived at the hospital six hours after the garage door had come down. When I walked into the intensive care unit, nothing could have prepared me to see my little son laying so still on a great big bed with tubes and monitors everywhere. He was on a respirator. I glanced at my wife who stood and tried to give me a reassuring smile. It all seemed like a terrible dream.
I was filled in with the details and given a guarded prognosis. Brian was going to live, and the preliminary tests indicated that his heart was OK - two miracles in and of themselves. But only time would tell if his brain received any damage.
Throughout the seemingly endless hours, my wife was calm. She felt that Brian would eventually be all right. I hung onto her words and faith like a lifeline. All that night and the next day Brian remained unconscious. It seemed like forever since I had left for my business trip the day before.
Finally, at two o'clock that afternoon, our son regained consciousness and sat up uttering the most beautiful words I have ever heard spoken. He said, 'Daddy hold me', and he reached for me with his little arms.
[TEAR BREAK ... smile]
By the next day, he was pronounced as having no neurological or physical deficits, and the story of his miraculous survival spread throughout the hospital. You cannot imagine, as we took Brian home we felt a unique reverence for the life and love of our Heavenly Father that comes to those who brush death so closely.
In the days that followed, there was a special spirit about our home. Our two older children were much closer to their little brother. My wife and I were much closer to each other. And, all of us were very close as a whole family. Life took on a less stressful pace. Perspective seemed to be more focused, and balance much easier to gain and maintain. We felt deeply blessed. Our gratitude was truly profound.
The story is not over! !
Almost a month later - to the day - of the accident, Brian awoke from his afternoon nap and said, 'Sit down Mommy, I have something to tell you.' At this time in his life, Brian usually spoke in small phrases; so for him to say a large sentence surprised my wife. She sat down with him on his bed and he began his sacred and remarkable story.
'Do you remember when I got stuck under the garage door? Well, it was so heavy and it hurt really bad. I called to you, but you couldn't hear me... I started to cry, but then it hurt too bad. And then, the 'birdies' came.'
'The birdies?' my wife asked puzzled.
'Yes,' he replied. 'The birdies made a whooshing sound and flew into the garage. They took care of me.'
'They did?'
'Yes,' he said 'One of the birdies came and got you. She came to tell you 'I got stuck under the door.' A sweet reverent feeling filled the room. The spirit was so strong and yet lighter than air. My wife realized that a three-year-old had no concept of death and spirits, so he was referring to the beings who came to him from beyond as 'birdies' because they were up in the air like birds that fly...
'What did the birdies look like?' she asked.
Brian answered, 'They were so beautiful. They were dressed in white, all white. Some of them had green and white. But some of them had on just white.'
'Did they say anything?'
'Yes,' he answered. 'They told me the baby would be all right.'
'The baby?' my wife asked confused.
Brian answered. 'The baby laying on the garage floor.' He went on, 'You came out and opened the garage door and ran to the baby. You told the baby to stay and not leave.'
My wife nearly collapsed upon hearing this, for she had indeed gone and knelt beside Brian's body and seeing his crushed chest whispered, 'Don't leave us Brian, please stay if you can.' As she listened to Brian telling her the words she had spoken, she realized that the spirit had left his body and was looking down from above on his little lifeless form. 'Then what happened?' she asked.
'We went on a trip,' he said, 'far, far away.' He grew agitated trying to say the things he didn't seem to have the words for. My wife tried to calm and comfort him, and let him know it would be okay. He struggled with wanting to tell something that obviously was very important to him, but finding the words was difficult.
'We flew so fast up in the air. They are so pretty Mommy,' he added.
'And there are lots and lots of birdies.' My wife was stunned. Into her mind the sweet comforting spirit enveloped her more soundly, but with an urgency she had never before known. Brian went on to tell her that the 'birdies' had told him that he had to come back and tell everyone about the 'birdies.'
He said they brought him back to the house and that a big fire truck and an ambulance were there. A man was bringing the baby out on a white bed and he tried to tell the man that the baby would be okay.
The story went on for an hour.
He taught us that 'birdies' were always with us, but we don't see them because we look with our eyes, and we don't hear them because we listen with our ears. But they are always there; you can only see them in here (he put his hand over his heart). They whisper the things to help us to do what is right because they love us so much. Brian continued, stating, 'I have a plan, Mommy. You have a plan. Daddy has a plan. Everyone has a plan. We must all live our plan and keep our promises. The birdies help us to do that cause they love us
so much. '
In the weeks that followed, he often came to us and told all, or part of it, again and again. Always the story remained the same. The details were never changed or out of order.
A few times he added further bits of information and clarified the message he had already delivered.
It never ceased to amaze us how he could tell such detail and speak beyond his ability when he talked about his birdies.
Everywhere he went, he told strangers about the 'birdies.' Surprisingly, no one ever looked at him strangely when he did this. Rather, they always got a softened look on their faces and smiled. Needless to say, we have not been the same ever since that day, and I pray we never will be.
Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people become friends and stay a while... leaving beautiful footprints on our hearts... and we are never quite the same because we have made a good friend!!
I thought nothing of it until I reached the door to leave the plane, and I heard a gentleman asking every male if he were Mr. Glenn. At this point, I knew something was wrong and my heart sank.

MARION JONES RELEASED
ESTELLE DEFENDS KAYNE WEST'S EGO

Not everyone thinks Kanye West needs to rein in his attitude...in fact, Estelle (who sings "American Boy" with him) thinks more people should be so cocky.
"People say what they say about his ego, but he's very sure of himself and I think that's a great way to be," she told E! News at Belvedere's dinner party at Dakota, which was held in her honor. "I think more people should follow him, and be more cocky and more proud of their work."
She also wasn't surprised by his decision to close the VMAs tonight, despite him swearing that he'd never perform for MTV again after being shut out last year.
"I'm sure it was all planned," she said. "I think people want to see what he'll bring after all of that and I think they're going to be pleasantly surprised and happy with it."

DO YOU BELIEVE IN GOD?
A girl went to her friends house and she
ended up staying longer than planned, and had to walk home alone.
She wasn't afraid because it was a small COMMUNITY and she lived
only a few blocks away.
As she walked along under the bike trail
Diane asked God to keep her safe from harm and danger.
When she
reached the alley, which was a shortcut to her house, she decided
to take it.
However, halfway down the alley she noticed a man
standing at the end as though he were waiting for her.
She became
uneasy and began to pray, asking for God's protection.
Instantly a
comforting feeling of quietness and security wrapped round her,
she felt as though someone was walking with her.
When she reached
the end of the alley, she walked right past the man and arrived
home safely.
The following day, she read in the newspaper
that a young girl had been raped in the same alley just twenty
minutes after she had been there.
Feeling overwhelmed by this
tragedy and the fact that it could have been her, she began to
weep.
Thanking the Lord for her safety and to help this young
woman, she decided to go to the police station.
She felt she could

A Beautiful Morning Prayer.

Relax your mind and humble your heart to focus on Christ. Allow God to be the only person on your mind while you read this prayer. If we can take the time to read long jokes , stories, etc., we should give the same respect to this prayer. Friends, who pray together, stay together.
Dear Lord, I thank you for this day. I thank You for my being able to see and to hear this morning. I'm blessed because You are a forgiving God and an understanding God. You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me. Forgive me this day for everything I have done, said or thought that was not pleasing to you. I ask now for Your forgiveness.
Please keep me safe from all danger and harm. Help me to start this day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude. Let me make the best of each and every day to clear my mind so that I can hear from You.
Please broaden my mind that I can accept all things.
Let me not whine and whimper over things I have no control over. Let me continue to see sin through God's eyes and acknowledge it as evil. And when I sin, let me repent, and confess with my mouth my wrongdoing, and receive the forgiveness of God.
And when this world closes in on me, let me remember Jesus' example -- to slip away and find a quiet place to pray. It's the best response when I'm pushed beyond my limits. I know that when I can't pray, You listen to my heart. Continue to use me to do Your will.
Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others. Keep me strong that I may help the weak. Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for others. I pray for those who are lost and can't find their way. I pray for those who are misjudged and misunderstood. I pray for those who don't know You intimately. I pray for those who will delete this without sharing it
with others. I pray for those who don't believe. But I thank you that I believe.
I believe that God changes people and God changes things. I pray for all my sisters and brothers. For each and every family member in their households. I pray for peace, love and joy in their homes that they are out of debt and all their needs are met.
I pray that every eye that reads this knows there is no problem, circumstance, or situation greater than God. Every battle is in Your hands for You to fight. I pray that these words be received into the hearts of every eye that sees them and every mouth that confesses them willingly..
This is my prayer.
In Jesus' Name, Amen.
This is what I call A-Z alphabet of LIFE.....

WHAT DOES "AIDS" MEAN?
AIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome:
• Acquired means you can get infected with it;
• Immune Deficiency means a weakness in the body's system that fights diseases.
• Syndrome means a group of health problems that make up a disease.
AIDS is caused by a virus called HIV, the Human Immunodeficiency Virus. If you get infected with HIV, your body will try to fight the infection. It will make "antibodies," special molecules to fight HIV.
A blood test for HIV looks for these antibodies. If you have them in your blood, it means that you have HIV infection. People who have the HIV antibodies are called "HIV-Positive." Fact Sheet 102 has more information on HIV testing.
Being HIV-positive, or having HIV disease, is not the same as having AIDS. Many people are HIV-positive but don't get sick for many years. As HIV disease continues, it slowly wears down the immune system. Viruses, parasites, fungi and bacteria that usually don't cause any problems can make you very sick if your immune system is damaged. These are called "opportunistic infections." See Fact Sheet 500 for an overview of opportunistic infections.
________________________________________
HOW DO YOU GET AIDS
You don't actually "get" AIDS. You might get infected with HIV, and later you might develop AIDS. You can get infected with HIV from anyone who's infected, even if they don't look sick and even if they haven't tested HIV-positive yet. The blood, vaginal fluid, semen, and breast milk of people infected with HIV has enough of the virus in it to infect other people. Most people get the HIV virus by:
• having sex with an infected person
• sharing a needle (shooting drugs) with someone who's infected
• being born when their mother is infected, or drinking the breast milk of an infected woman
Getting a transfusion of infected blood used to be a way people got AIDS, but now the blood supply is screened very carefully and the risk is extremely low.
There are no documented cases of HIV being transmitted by tears or saliva, but it is possible to be infected with HIV through oral sex or in rare cases through deep kissing, especially if you have open sores in your mouth or bleeding gums. For more information, see the following Fact Sheets:
• 150: Stopping the Spread of HIV
• 151: Safer Sex Guidelines
• 152: How Risky Is It?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that 1 to 1.2 million U.S. residents are living with HIV infection or AIDS; about a quarter of them do not know they have it. About 75 percent of the 40,000 new infections each year are in men, and about 25 percent in women. About half of the new infections are in Blacks, even though they make up only 12 percent of the US population.
In the mid-1990s, AIDS was a leading cause of death. However, newer treatments have cut the AIDS death rate significantly. For more information, see the US Government fact sheet at http://www.niaid.nih.gov/factsheets/aidsstat.htm.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I'M HIV POSITIVE?
You might not know if you get infected by HIV. Some people get fever, headache, sore muscles and joints, stomach ache, swollen lymph glands, or a skin rash for one or two weeks. Most people think it's the flu. Some people have no symptoms. Fact Sheet 103 has more information on the early stage of HIV infection.
The virus will multiply in your body for a few weeks or even months before your immune system responds. During this time, you won't test positive for HIV, but you can infect other people.
When your immune system responds, it starts to make antibodies. When this happens, you will test positive for HIV.
After the first flu-like symptoms, some people with HIV stay healthy for ten years or longer. But during this time, HIV is damaging your immune system.
One way to measure the damage to your immune system is to count your CD4 cells you have. These cells, also called "T-helper" cells, are an important part of the immune system. Healthy people have between 500 and 1,500 CD4 cells in a milliliter of blood. Fact Sheet 124 has has more information on CD4 cells.
Without treatment, your CD4 cell count will most likely go down. You might start having signs of HIV disease like fevers, night sweats, diarrhea, or swollen lymph nodes. If you have HIV disease, these problems will last more than a few days, and probably continue for several weeks.
________________________________________
HOW DO I KNOW IF I HAVE AIDS?
HIV disease becomes AIDS when your immune system is seriously damaged. If you have less than 200 CD4 cells or if your CD4 percentage is less than 14%, you have AIDS. See Fact Sheet 124 for more information on CD4 cells. If you get an opportunistic infection, you have AIDS. There is an "official" list of these opportunistic infections put out by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The most common ones are:
• PCP (Pneumocystis pneumonia), a lung infection;
• KS (Kaposi's sarcoma), a skin cancer;
• CMV (Cytomegalovirus), an infection that usually affects the eyes
• Candida, a fungal infection that can cause thrush (a white film in your mouth) or infections in your throat or vagina
AIDS-related diseases also includes serious weight loss, brain tumors, and other health problems. Without treatment, these opportunistic infections can kill you.
The official (technical) CDC definition of AIDS is available at http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/00018871.htm AIDS is different in every infected person. Some people die a few months after getting infected, while others live fairly normal lives for many years, even after they "officially" have AIDS. A few HIV-positive people stay healthy for many years even without taking antiretroviral medications (ARVs).

IS THERE A CURE FOR AIDS?
There is no cure for AIDS. There are drugs that can slow down the HIV virus, and slow down the damage to your immune system. There is no way to "clear" the HIV out of your body.
Other drugs can prevent or treat opportunistic infections (OIs). In most cases, these drugs work very well. The newer, stronger ARVs have also helped reduce the rates of most OIs. A few OIs, however, are still very difficult to treat. See Fact Sheet 500 for more information on opportunistic infections.

• PCP (pneumonia de Pneumocystis), uma infecção de pulmão;
• KS (o sarcoma de Kaposi), um cancro de pele;
Há e to your immune system.

MAN-UTD Fans' delight at Berba coup

Reds fans are over the moon at the prospect of seeing Dimitar Berbatov in a red shirt following his deadline day switch to Old Trafford... Just picture this: Berbatov, Rooney, Tevez and Ronaldo heading at you. God have mercy on our opponents." "This has felt like the longest transfer deadline day ever. But it shows to any doubters out there that you should always have faith in Sir Alex. He always gets his man." In an interview with MUTV of recent berbatov made it clear that “'I don't play for the money. Those who know me; my really close friends, know that I play for enjoyment and to entertain the fans.'If I want to play for the money, I will accept the Manchester City offer or Chelsea.'But the red shirt is a really big thing for me. I want to play for the biggest club in the world. That is why I am here.''I know I can develop here in the way I always wanted. That is the most important thing for me.'I am 27 now. I am at the biggest club in the world and maybe this could be the last step in my career.'Despite being stuck in the middle of a stand-off to which there appeared to be no end. And having pulled out of games against Sunderland and Tottenham because he was 'in no fit state' to participate, Berbatov never felt his United hopes would end in failure. 'I always believed,' he said.

The second biggest movie in HOLLYWOOD history

The second-biggest movie in Hollywood history. Sky-high ticket prices. Add ‘em together, and what do you get? Surprisingly, not a record.
From the first weekend in May through Labor Day, the Dark Knight-led summer movie season raked in $4.13 billion, Exhibitor Relations said today, down a tick from last year's all-time figure of $4.16 billion.
The problem, if that's the word, since 2008 goes down as the second-biggest summer on record, was twofold: dwindling attendance; and, lack of a late-summer blockbuster.
